Kings Hall Science

Kings Hall School

The completion of an academic space audit identified the requirement for additional classrooms and improved science facilities as a part of the development of the west wing of the school. The main house at Kings Hall School is Grade II listed and the new buildings replaced temporary classrooms in an adjacent courtyard and connected directly to the existing classroom building and thus offered the opportunity to rationalise the existing teaching accommodation.

The new building provides science laboratories and a prep room and a generous link between the new and existing building providing both circulation space and ‘break out’ teaching areas.

The laboratories are naturally ventilated with inboard ventilation chimneys to create a stack effect and with a super insulated timber structure and brick external skin, the energy consumption is minimal and the spaces light, airy and user controlled.
