Kingswood School

The significant extension and refurbishment to an existing boarding house at Kingswood school had a brief to mesh the existing 19th Century house with a new extension. The new building allows spaces to benefit from the elevated position to look over tree-tops to the valley of Bath below.

Our scheme allowed the characters of the two parts of the build to stand and the spaces to flow together. The bold modern façade presents the clients forward-looking ethos.

At the lower ground floor the social space has been almost carved below the rooms to create a large private space for eating and meeting, which spills out onto the lower garden terrace creating an intimate relationship with the lawns.
