Sladebrook Road development wins Michelmores Award

New brick elevations help to link the new housing development into its context

Sladebrook Road housing development in Bath has won the 2024 Michelmores Award for Residential Project of the Year (35 houses and under). The Michelmores Property Awards celebrate the best property, development and construction projects in the South West. The Awards, which have long-championed sustainability and innovation, place the social, environmental, sustainable and economic values at the heart of it’s judging criteria. These attributes are considered to be just as important as the project’s aesthetics and purpose.

Sladebrook Road is a residential development of 9 dwellings, arranged as 6 semi-detached three bed houses, and 3 detached four bed villas, set upon the top of Southdown Hill within the suburban environs of Bath. The proposed dwellings have been composed so as to knit elegantly into the suburban neighbourhood and is built to the AECB Low Energy Standard to help Bath & North East Somerset reach its target of net carbon zero by 2030.

The judges said of the housing development : ‘the project was applauded for creatively delivering a compact layout that the judges thought responded sensitively, yet playfully, to the local context, streetscape and topography whilst knitting into the existing neighbourhood.’
